Hanzade Doğan

Hanzade Doğan is a serial entrepreneur, an experienced leader of blue-chip companies, a philanthropist committed to social impact and an active voice on global issues. 

As a pioneer of e-commerce & technology businesses in Turkey, she founded Hepsiburada Group and has steered its rapid growth to make it the largest ecommerce platform in Turkey.  She is also the Founder and Chairwoman of Nesine, the country’s standard-setting and most widely used sports betting platform.

Beyond her entrepreneurial accomplishments, Doğan has vast experience in leading established, blue-chip Turkish companies.  From 2003 to 2007 she was the Chairwoman of Doğan Publishing, nation’s largest publishing company in terms of circulation at the time. From 2006 to 2010, she was first a Board member and then the Chairwoman of Petrol Ofisi, Turkey’s main fuel-products distribution company and second largest corporation by revenue throughout that period. 

Doğan has been serving as the Chairwoman of Aydın Doğan Foundation since 2012 with a vision to expand its measurable social impact.  She has established and led the award-winning “Dad Send Me To School” social mobilization movement that aimed to eliminate economic and cultural barriers to young female education across Turkey.   The Foundation has successfully spearheaded change in social mindset as well as policy design.  Within 10 years, the national secondary-school registration gap between girls and boys was eliminated.  Under her leadership, the Foundation continues to support the development of opportunities for young girls in Turkey.

Doğan is an active voice in national and international fora, addressing critical global challenges and advocating responsible deployment of technology that is inclusive and accessible to all constituents of the global society.  She is the founding Board Member and served as the Vice-Chairwoman of Global Relations Forum between 2009 and 2020. She has been a member of the Brookings Institute Board of Trustees since 2014. Doğan is a regular participant at the World Economic Forum and a Committee Member of the Digital Platforms and Ecosystems Initiative.

She has received her BSc degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and her MBA from Columbia University where she continues to serve as a member of the Business School Board of Overseers.
